Back in September, local businessman Nathan Sklar prevailed in his quest to for a kosher cafe in the former Shalom Chai Pizza space at 357 Grand St. Board members of the Seward Park Co-op, which owns the storefront, chose his proposal from several applications.  Nothing official from the co-op since that time. But coming up Tuesday, November 17, Slkar will go before Community Board 3’s SLA Committee to ask for a full liquor license.  There’s a second name on the CB3 questionairre: Dean Tischfeld.  Proposed hours of operation are 7 a.m.-10 p.m., although the restaurant would close for the Jewish Sabbath at 5 p.m. Fridays and reopen after sundown on Saturdays.  There would be outdoor seating both in front on the restaurant and in the back, where there’s a small patio.  You can read our previous coverage of this story here.
